Casterly Rock Cheddar & Ale Puffs
Golden, savory puffs bursting with sharp cheddar and a hint of ale, these bites are as rich and satisfying as Lannister gold.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet (10 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon ale (or milk for non-alcoholic option)
- Pinch of salt
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, gently unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Sprinkle evenly with grated cheddar cheese, chopped chives, salt, and pepper.
- Fold the puff pastry in half, pressing gently to seal. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into 24 small squares or rectangles.
- In a small bowl, whisk the beaten egg with the ale (or milk). Brush the tops of the pastry squares with the egg wash.
- Arrange the puffs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Serve warm.
