The Prancing Pony
A stout-hearted riff on a Flip that combines the richness of an English pub with the strength of a Ranger’s constitution.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Whiskey (Irish or Scotch)
- 0.5 oz Demerara Syrup
- 1 whole Egg
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker without ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds (dry shake).
- Add ice and shake again until very cold.
- Double-strain into a chilled coupe or small tankard.
- Garnish with a heavy dusting of freshly grated nutmeg.

Based on the Whiskey Flip from Dale DeGroff's 'The Craft of the Cocktail.' This version swap white sugar for Demerara to mimic the 'brown' flavors of Middle-earth, perfect for a nightcap by the hearth.
