The Verdant Snapper
A botanical Red Snapper riff belonging to the savory Bloody Mary family, featuring a crisp, vegetal sangrita that feels like something you'd sip while tending to the gardens at the Grande Chartreuse monastery.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Gin
- 0.5 oz Green Chartreuse
- 4 oz Vegetal Sangrita (recipe below)
- 0.25 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 2 dashes Celery Bitters
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a shaker with a small amount of ice (short shake).
- Roll the drink back and forth between the shaker tins to incorporate without over-diluting or aerating too much.
- Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a slapped sprig of cilantro and a cucumber ribbon.
Glassware: Highball
Garnish: Cilantro sprig and cucumber ribbon
History
This modern interpretation of the Red Snapper uses Green Chartreuse to bridge the gap between gin's botanicals and the savory, green notes of a verdant sangrita. It swaps the traditional tomato-heavy profile for a lighter, brighter garden-to-glass experience.
